Beyond the drawings lies the story of John Rees-Jowett himself.

Through surviving letters, personal papers, photographs and fragments of everyday life, the archive offers glimpses of the man behind the artist. His correspondence reveals friendships, professional relationships, interests and experiences that cannot be discovered through his artwork alone.

Together, these surviving pieces allow us to gradually reconstruct a more personal history of John Rees-Jowett, connecting the work he produced with the life he lived.

This part of the archive is still being explored, and with every letter, photograph and document, another small piece of his story returns.
