1936 Servis Electric Washing Machine with Integral Mangle

A remarkable survivor from the early days of the electrically powered British home.

Dating to 1936, this Servis electric washing machine combines a large aluminium wash tub with its substantial integral twin-roller mangle.

Formerly displayed as part of the Museum of Electricity – Powering the Past collection in Bath, it survives today as a fascinating piece of British domestic and industrial history.
